Cheneil is one of the most charming trips near Cervinia, perfect for anyone wanting to experience the mountains without skiing.
From Cervinia it takes around 20 minutes by car, along the road towards Valtournenche as far as La Barma. Here you’ll find the La Barma–Cheneil inclined lift, free of charge and open 24 hours a day, which climbs around 50 metres and gets you to the village in just a few minutes.
Once there, you’ll find yourself in a small, car-free alpine village at around 2,100 metres, where time seems to slow down. Amid wooden chalets, meadows and mountain views, Cheneil is the perfect spot for a walk, a break at a mountain hut, or simply enjoying the silence of nature. Those who prefer can also reach the village on foot, following a short trail that starts from the car park and crosses the woods.
Before visiting, it’s a good idea to check for any maintenance work or temporary closures of the lift with the local tourist office.
